HOW TO PREPARE KAVA

  1. Gather your supplies: Kava powder, a strainer bag or tea towel, a small bowl or cup, a large bowl for mixing, water, and optionally, milk (such as cow's milk, almond milk, or oat milk, coconut milk).

  2. Measure out 100g of Kava powder and place it into your strainer bag.

  3. Fill a large bowl with approximately 1L of warm water. If you prefer a non-traditional approach, you can also use milk as a substitute for water. Adding milk can enhance the potency of your Kava, as kavalactones dissolve better in the fat content of milk.

  4. Immerse the bag of Kava into the bowl of water (or milk) and knead it for about 10 minutes. This allows the Kava lactones to dissolve into the liquid, creating a potent mixture.

  5. Once thoroughly kneaded, remove the bag from the liquid, squeezing out any remaining liquid.

  6. Your Kava is now ready to be enjoyed. Pour approximately 100-200ml into each shell or bowl.

  7. Take a few minutes between each serving to allow the effects of Kava to settle in.

Prepare to savor the relaxing and soothing qualities of your freshly prepared Kava, whether you choose the traditional water-based method or opt for a creamy alternative with milk. Cheers to a tranquil experience

Alternative Method

  1. Adjust the amount of Kava powder based on your desired strength. You have the flexibility to modify the quantity of powder used.

  2. Place the Kava powder into a blender and add water. Avoid filling the blender to the top to prevent overflow. Remember, the less water used, the more concentrated the mixture will be.

  3. If you prefer a stronger drink, add approximately 50ml of milk per person to the blender. This addition helps dissolve the Kavalactones more effectively, resulting in a stronger overall drink.

  4. Blend the mixture on a low speed for approximately 4 minutes. Be cautious not to leave the blender running unattended, as it may overheat and affect the quality and taste of the Kava.

  5. Prepare a large bowl for filtering the liquid. Place the filter bag/Tea towel over the salad bowl.

  6. Pour the blended Kava water into the filter, allowing it to pass through and collect in the bowl. This method helps prevent spillage and ensures a clean extraction.

  7. As you approach the end of the pouring process, filter around the remaining Kava powder and squeeze it to extract the liquid. Ensure you thoroughly squeeze out all the liquid, leaving the Kava powder in the filter.

By following these steps, you'll have a filtered Kava liquid ready for consumption, while the remaining Kava powder stays within the filter. Enjoy your Kava experience and remember to squeeze out every last drop.
